Frequently Asked Questions
Are your products safe for my sensitive skin?
Yes! Kind Hippo was founded with a specific goal of providing "skin sensitive" products that actually work. We have expanded our line of products, but always with skin sensitivity in mind. Our products are formulated only with the gentlest surfactants, and no harsh chemicals or perfumes that might irritate sensitive skin.
If one of our products is not safe for sensitive skin it is clearly marked on the package.
Are your products biodegradable?
Yes, all of our products are plant-based with no harsh chemicals and therefore they biodegrade quickly with minimal environmental impact.
Why should I REFILL my bottles?
REFILLING bottles is the next step in making products sustainable.
What is the difference between Baby Free and Clear detergent and regular Free and Clear detergent?
The Baby Free & Clear detergent contains an extra surfactant (cleaning agent) that the regular Free & Clear detergent does not. This extra surfactant is designed to get out uniquely "baby" stains, so it is the perfect choice for babies, toddlers, or anyone else who gets their clothes a bit dirtier than most. Rest assured, however, that even though there is greater cleaning power, it is still extremely gentle for Baby's sensitive skin!

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrances?
People often refer to essential oils and fragrances interchangeably, but some important differences distinguish them from each other. Essential oils are natural chemicals that are extracted from the leaves, flowers, stems, roots or bark of plants. They are not true oils, but are the aromatic and volatile essences derived from botanicals. Fragrance oils (also called perfume oils) are usually synthetic; chemists analyze the plants’ components and reproduce their chemical compositions. We use essential oils in all our products except where no natural product exists - such as the apple scent. We list this as a fragrance under product information.

Are your products suitable to use in a HE front loading machine?

Are your products considered vegan?
Yes! We never use animal products or animal testing in any of the products we make.
I have a problem with static in my dryer even when I use a dryer sheet - any suggestions?
It is important to make sure that you do not overload your dryer and that you do not over dry your clothes. We always recommend putting the dryer on the "regular dry" setting and then, if your clothes are still not dry, to let them go a little longer. Letting them tumble around while already dry just leads to static build up and undoes the work of any fabric softener or dryer sheet you may have used (also it wastes energy!).
Do you sell your products by the case pack?
Yes, click on the "case packs" tab to see all products available by the case. Buying by the case is a great way to save money on shipping, because the cost to ship an entire case is comparable to the cost to ship just one bottle!
